Tracy started her sporting
career competing in 800m at Jarrow & Hebburn AC before gaining
International Honours and her GB vest. Her debut for England was
at the young age of 15, competing in Wales and winning the 800 gold.
After a successful period that included winning the English Schools
twice and competing abroad for the GB Team, Tracy's career was unfortunately
cut short with a career ending injury. Although unable to compete,
Tracy in her final year at University concentrated on completing
her Sports Science (Hons) degree.
After Graduation Tracy
started working in the Sports Science Labs at The University of
Sunderland. She gained vast amounts of practical experience in support
methods and protocols associated with sports science support. Support
projects were carried out with both elite and grass root level sports
performers in the areas of physiology and biomechanics. Due to injury
ending Tracy's athletics career she always had a particular interest
in injury prevention and rehabilitation and it was for this reason
that she qualified as a Sports massage therapist (OCR diploma).
After 4 years experience
of running the sports science labs it was time for a new challenge.
Tracy decided to enter the lecturing fraternity and studied for
a PGCE whilst teaching at Newcastle College as a sports science
lecturer. Tracy has kept up to date with a variety of coaching awards
and practical delivery. She now is one of the Directors of The Fitness
Factory NE as well as Course Leader at Gateshead College Sports
Academies.
